Wa All Stars pip Tema Youth

Wa, (U/W) March 5, GNA - Wa All Stars put up a splendid performance to beat visiting Tema Youth by a lone goal in their Onetouch Midweek Premier League match played at the Wa Sports Stadium.

The home side who were determined to collect the three maximum points raised their game from the blast of the whistle and took the game to the Tema lads who could not cope up with their built up. The Wa lads raided the goal area of Tema Youth continuously and in one of such attacks, an All Stars attacker floated the ball upfront, which met enterprising on-rushing right-winger Issiah Salifu to connect home beautifully to register the only goal for his side in the 26 minute.

After conceding the goal the Tema lads took up the challenge and varied their game play with short and accurate inter-positional passes but the defence men of All Stars equally put them in check as they thwarted the visitors efforts to equalize.

Back from the recess, Tema Youth's inside right Edward Afum tormented the All Stars defence but lack of support from his colleagues denied them of any goal.

All Stars came back to the game in the latter parts of the game, firing from all angels but the vigilant goalkeeper of Tema Youth, Sowah made some good saves to save his side from further goals till referee Kwame Nsiah Boafo from Kumasi brought proceedings to an end. Isaac Boateng, coach of Tema Youth commended the All Stars team for exhibiting an excellent game adding that they deserved the win. He said his boys failed to play according to his game plan and also showed no commitment to the game, hence their defeat.
