The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Mustapha Gbande, has expressed confidence that the party will comfortably secure a massive victory in the Northern Region ahead of the pending polls in December.

Speaking on GhanaWeb TV’s Election Desk, Mustapha Gbande emphasized that the people of the North will rally behind John Dramani Mahama by casting their votes in his favor against his opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to him, northerners will not elect a mediocre candidate and government over someone who has more to offer.

“Bawumia is not a man of himself. What is he going to do? Do you think northerners will endorse this mediocrity, incompetence? Do you think northerners will accept what is shameful? That a man who was branded to be an economic Whizkid, the man who was branded to be the most intelligent economist; under him, the Bank of Ghana is bankrupt, under him the economy is crashed, and he is running away. He doesn’t even take responsibility. How can we be afraid of such a character?” he said.

Gbande stressed that the campaign launch in the region on Saturday will help resolve any past issues and ensure their victory.

“The North is for the NDC. We’ve had issues, and we are here to resolve all those issues and to give hope. If you see what we got in the 2020 election, that was when we woke up and we began to work. You saw the results in the assembly elections, NPP lost…” he stated.

The NDC will launch their campaign on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Jubilee Park in Tamale, Northern Region.
