The Member of Parliament for Obuasi West Constituency, Kwaku Kwarteng has launched the New Patriotic Party's campaign ahead of the 2024 general elections.
At a mini rally in front of the party's headquarters in Obuasi, Kwaku Kwarteng told the party faithful of their preparedness to retain the Obuasi West seat and "break the eight".
A strong campaign team made up of party executives was also unveiled sending a strong message to other political parties that it will leave no stone unturned in their quest to maintain power.
Speaking to the party faithful, Kwaku Kwarteng said the party has done enough to be given another term, adding that Obuasi has seen remarkable development in the last eight years.
"We have delivered on our promises to the good people of Obuasi. We have not reneged on our promises. We all know the state of Obuasi we came to meet and the level of development Obuasi has seen now," the Obuasi West MP said.
He mentioned the comeback of AngloGold Ashanti in 2019 after the company declared care and maintenance in 2014 as a promise the party fulfilled when it was initially voted into power in 2016.
He stated that the economy of Obuasi collapsed when AGA went down but through the intervention of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, AGA was revived and has helped in giving more lifeline to the Obuasi economy including creating more jobs.
Kwaku Kwarteng also mentioned projects like the Obuasi Trauma Hospital, the Anwiankwanta to Obuasi road, the Obuasi internal roads, the construction of the Obuasi children's park, Knust-Obuasi campus project, etc as key projects the government has embarked on in Obuasi stressing that, the government needs overwhelming endorsement from the people of Obuasi.
According to the Obuasi West MP, Obuasi will see massive development in his next term judging from the work he has done so far.
He said he has lined up a plethora of road projects to be done in Obuasi.
These include the New Biakoyeden Road, Kunka internal roads, Estate Road, and Sanso internal roads.
He also mentioned the establishment of a fully-fledged technical university in Obuasi, the establishment of the Obuasi Industrial Park, and railway development as key projects to be expected when his mandate is renewed in the 2024 general elections.
The former Deputy Minister of Finance appealed to party faithful to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party's presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia saying that he has what it takes to continue the legacy of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
Meanwhile, Kwaku Kwarteng has sent a strong message to his opponents saying that he has done enough to merit another term and represent the only person among his competitors to bring development to the mining town.
He charged party supporters to go to the nook and crannies of the constituency and sell the good works of the New Patriotic Party and the good message of the party.
