The incumbent Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, cast his vote at the M.A. Basic School polling station, marking his participation in the 2024 general elections.
Afenyo-Markin, who is seeking re-election under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), arrived at the polling station early in the morning and was met with cheers from some constituents who had gathered to witness the event.
After successfully casting his ballot, Afenyo-Markin took a moment to address the media, expressing his confidence in the electoral process and calling on all Ghanaians to turn out in large numbers to vote.
“I am pleased to be here today to participate in this important democratic exercise,” he said. “It is a privilege to serve the people of Effutu, and I encourage all eligible voters to come out and make their voices heard.”
Afenyo-Markin, who has served as the MP for Effutu since 2017, is running for a third term in Parliament. His campaign has focused on infrastructure development, job creation, and enhancing education within the constituency. His re-election bid is expected to be closely contested, with opposition parties keen on challenging his leadership.
Voters at the M.A. Basic School polling station were seen in high spirits as they lined up to cast their ballots, with many expressing their hopes for continued development in the constituency.
“As the MP for Effutu, Afenyo-Markin has made a significant impact in our community, and we hope that he will continue to deliver on his promises,” said one voter, Samuel Osei.
With voting underway in the Effutu Constituency and across the country, all eyes are on the outcome of the election as Ghana prepares to make a decisive choice for its future leadership.
