The Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako Mensah, says former President John Dramani Mahama cannot run away from having a debate with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for a debate between him and Mr. Mahama to tell Ghanaians their vision in hopes of winning their votes on December 7, but the National Democratic Congress has refused to let their presidential candidate debate the Vice President.

This notwithstanding, Collins Adomako says the presidential debate will surely come off.

He's asked Mr. Mahama to avail himself and meet Dr. Bawumia to present their policies and compare track records.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Collins Adomako said, "We will force him to debate... I plead with His Excellency Mahama; we all know he is a good communicator. He should come and let's have a debate. Bawumia is ready."

He added, "The interesting thing is that, normally, from history even in Ghana, it is the candidate in opposition who is more eager. The one in opposition is always calling for a debate, but this time around, it is the candidate in power, who the economy has even become a problem for, who says I am prepared to defend my record."

"Debate helps us Ghanaians; how you can think sharp on your feet. It's important; it's very, very important... It will give us an opportunity to listen to the two leading candidates."

"Why are you afraid?" he queried Ex-President Mahama.
