2024 Provisional Voters Register: We’re scrutinising documents - NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has initiated a thorough review of the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) released by the Electoral Commission (EC) just one day before the start of the voter register exhibition for the upcoming December 7 elections.

The NDC’s Elections Directorate has been tasked with meticulously scrutinising the PVR to ensure its accuracy and alignment with the party’s own data collected during the voter registration exercise.

Godwin Ako Gunn, A Deputy Director of Communications, revealed this strategy during an interview on "The Citizen’s Show" hosted by Nana Bobie Ansah on Accra 100.5 FM, on Monday, August 15, 2024.

According to Ako Gunn, the party’s officers have been assigned to verify the PVR against the figures they gathered during the registration process, aiming to detect any discrepancies.

He expressed concern that the EC may have deliberately delayed the release of the register to the NDC, despite the Constitutional Instrument requiring the EC to provide the document to political parties ahead of the exhibition exercise.

"As a party, we had our figures, so we want the EC’s figures to cross-check whether they conform with the figures we had as a result of the registration exercise," Ako Gunn stated.

He further criticized the EC for not publishing the register figures on its website, as mandated by law, and vowed that the NDC would ensure that no "ghost voters" would participate in the upcoming elections.

"Our team has started a detailed review of the EC’s document, going from polling station to polling station, electoral area to electoral area, constituency to constituency, and region by region to verify the accuracy of the EC’s figures," Ako Gunn explained.

He also alleged that while the NDC and other political parties were still pressing for the release of the PVR, the EC had secretly provided the document to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
