Leklebi Fiape (V/R), Dec 3, GNA - A government delegation led by Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama at the week-end attended the burial of Mr. Patrick Kodzo Agbenoworsi, 69, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a one time Third National Vice Chairman of the party at Leklebi Fiape in the Hohoe District.
Other Members of the delegation were Mr. Ebenezer Begyina Sekyi-Hughes, Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Kofi Dzamesi and Mr. Joseph Nayan, Volta Regional Minister and the Deputy respectively. Mr. Mac Manu National, National Chairman of the NPP, led the party delegation that included Nana Ohene Ntow, General Secretary and Mrs. Agnes Okudzeto second Vice Chairperson of the Party and some NPP presidential aspirants.
Also present were some members of the Diplomatic Corps. Mr. Dzamesi donated GHc500 and assorted drinks to the bereaved family on behalf of the government and the party. Until his death on September 06, Mr. Agbenoworsi was the Managing Director of SAMPAT Fisheries at Tema. In a tribute the Vice President Mahama said the death of Mr. Agbenoworsi was a big blow to the NPP, the government and the country as a whole.
He described him as a political mentor who sacrificed himself and assets at most difficult times in the history of the NPP. "If there are any individual benefits to derive from one's loyal affiliation to a victorious political party, Patrick deserved to be among the first batch of party loyalist to derive such benefit", he remarked.
Mr. Mac-Manu said the late Mr Agbenoworsi was dedicated, loyal and dye-in-wool member of the Daquah/Busia tradition and a selfless person who used his time and resources to nature the party in the Volta Region. In a sermon Right Reverend Livingston Buama, Moderator of the E.P. Church, expressed the hope that all would emulate the religious morals of the late Mr Agbenoworsi.
