Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Justice Joe Appiah, has expressed appreciation to his constituents for voting massively to retain him as their representative in parliament.
He contested on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and secured 53,115 votes, 59.69 per cent, as against 34,534 or 38.81 per cent obtained by Mr. Ras Mubarak, his closest challenger, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking to the GNA in an interview, Mr Appiah commended his constituents for their hard work, commitment, dedication and loyalty to the NPP which ensured his victory.
He appealed to them not to be downhearted about the presidential result since the NPP leadership was going to court to seek redress βto put things right.β
Mr. Appiah said since the party had decided to use the court process to seek redress, party supporters should remain calm and not do anything that could create chaos.
He appealed to party supporters to have confidence in the party leadership and continue to remain solidly behind Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo- Addo, the flagbearer of the NPP in the December 07 election.
He urged NPP supporters to disregard the utterances of political opponents and that whether the NPP had a strong case or not would be determined by the Supreme Court in the days ahead.
Mr. Appiah said he was hopeful God would give the judges courage and wisdom to deliver a verdict that would be accepted by all to remove any doubts on the minds of Ghanaians.
