Accept verdict of Supreme Court in good faith - Pastor

A clergyman has urged the two major political parties in contention over the December 2012 presidential election petition to show nationalism by accepting the verdict of the Supreme Court.

“Accepting the ruling of the court, devoid of anarchy, by either the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will enhance Ghana’s credentials of practicing modern multi-party democracy.”

Reverend George Asante, North Kaneshie Central District Circuit Pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church International gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Monday, when the church started a four-week “Fire” conference at the church’s premises at North Kaneshie, in Accra.

It was on the theme: “The Spirit of the End Time Revival”

Rev. Asante asked the youth to shun politicians who would offer them money to cause mayhem and disturb the peace and security of the nation.

He also called on media practitioners to be circumspect in their reportage and commentaries on the airwaves.

Rev. Asante, speaking on the topic: “The Spirit of the Eagle,” cited the two eagles on the Coat of Arms of the nation, and said they represented the spirit of God and urged Ghanaians not to entertain any fear because: “fear is a mirage and not real.”

“The eagle symbolizes the impact of the spirit of God in one’s life and has the authority, freedom, transcendence, beauty, bravery, courage, honour, pride, determination and endurance, adding that, the symbol shows the quality of the Ghanaian.

The Pastor called on the government and policy makers to seek the spirit and wisdom of God to overcome the crisis in the country, adding that; “for the nation to continue to be the beacon of hope in Africa, it behoves on all Ghanaians to contribute their quota in adding value to the country’s resources.”

Rev. Asante charged religious leaders to rise up to the task by playing their spiritual roles of praying for the country to be ruled in an environment of freedom, and for her to triumph the challenges.
