Accra gets pressure group to check abuse of public office

Accra, Oct. 3, GNA - A civic pressure group- Propaganda Network in Accra Metropolitan Area (P-NAMA), has been formed to check misuse of public office and to instil in Ghanaians the spirit of continuity for a better Ghana.

It aims at championing the course of accountability and the observance of ethics by public office holders. P-NAMA would create awareness and cons ciousness among the citizenry on the need to support President John Evans Atta Mills Better Ghana Agenda, irrespective of one's political affiliation.

The non- partisan group has membership across the political divide and would span the 11 sub-metros in Accra. Mr Bright Assah, Director of Operations, who was speaking at the launc= h of the group in Accra at the weekend, said P-NAMA intends to work in partnership with private and public sector institutions committed to accountability. He said P-NAMA seeks to court the co-operation of the media to be able to check the abuse of public office. Mr Assah said through ethical conduct and public accountability Ghana could achieve the Better Ghana agenda and stressed the commitment of P-NAMA to facilitate the process.
