Accra, Dec 31, GNA - Mr George Opersika Aggudey a leading member of the Convention Poeple's Party (CPP), in a New Year message for 2010, to Ghanaians, on Friday called for love for one another, hard work and support for government to build a better Ghana.
He said: "Let's do what is right, support the government and the President, position ourselves and help one another to reconstruct the nation," Mr Aggudey said in Accra.
Mr. Aggudey in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday, called on Ghanaians to do away with divisiveness and ensure unity to move the nation forward and make it a model of development for other countries. He said Ghana must become a 'kra behwe' an Akan term meaning a community which people from far would observe its excellence. "Let us resolve in 2010, to make Ghana clean and better to become a kra behwe. Ghana has helped in the construction of other countries. Why can't we reconstruct our country?," Mr Aggudey asked.
He wished all the people a prosperous New Year and Better Ghana and called for a renewed sense of nationalism, and appealed to Ghanaians with expertise in foreign countries to return home and help in building Ghana. Mr Aggudey said "We make more use of the whites at our own expense". He said he believed in the "domestication" policy of the late Mr Dan Lartey, an elder statesman, who died last Monday, which expressed strong belief in the use of local resources for development.
According to Mr Aggudey, a CPP Government which won independence for Ghana was the only party that could rapidly turn Ghana's economy around to substantial levels. 31 Dec 09
