The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi, has reacted to the findings by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng, exonerating John Dramani Mahama from any allegations in the Airbus scandal.

In a post on his official X account on Thursday, August 8, 2024, Sammy Gyamfi said “Lies they say, have a short life span. And vindication they say, is in the womb of time. Once again, H.E. John Dramani Mahama has been vindicated, as the Office of Special Prosecutor has exonerated him of any wrongdoing in the Airbus saga.

“The evil smear agenda by the corrupt Akufo-Addo/Bawumia “agyapadie” cabal, who are desperately looking for corruption classmates, has failed,” he posted.

Reiterating the incorruptible nature of John Dramani Mahama, Sammy Gyamfi stated that the former president is the most viable candidate to lead the fight against corruption in the country.

“Seven and half years after leaving office, John Mahama remains squeaky clean with unblemished integrity. Certainly, John Mahama is the incorruptible leader Ghana needs to win the fight against corruption,” his post read.

The Special Prosecutor, at a press conference on August 8, 2024, disclosed that the investigation found no wrongdoing against the former president and his brother and cleared them of any misconduct.

He has subsequently directed the closure of all investigations into the controversial Airbus scandal.

This follows years of investigation into the Airbus scandal to ascertain the bribery allegations levelled against former president John Dramani Mahama regarding the purchase of military transport aircraft from Airbus.
