Former Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo Constituency Michael Teye Nyaunu has heaped praises on the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for what he says is his persistence and courage.

Even in the ‘evening’ of Nana Akufo-Addo’s career, he says, he has been able to fight a battle and won. “I think it gives us lessons of persistence and courage.”

The former National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker made this known on Monday, December 19 in an interview on TV3’s Midday Live.

He said Nana Akufo-Addo’s is a hard-fought battle which began decades ago.

The New Patriotic Party’s candidate made a successful third attempt at the presidency after a first round victory over President John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 elections.

He had lost his first attempt to late John Evans Atta Mills in the 2008 elections and lost to President Mahama in the 2012 elections. But a rigorous campaign pivoted on the message of change and jobs saw the eight-year opposition leader beat an incumbent president – a first in Ghana – in an election.

Mr Teye Nyaunu congratulated Nana Akufo-Addo, and the NPP as a whole, for the victory chalked. He criticised his party for the defeat, saying the signals were clearly written on the walls but they were just ignored.
