Akyem Swedru Nasara club inaugurated

Akyem Swedru, Oct 10, GNA - A seven-member executive of the Akyem Swedru Constituency Nasara Club of the NPP was on Saturday elected and sworn into office with Mr Jibrine Alhasan as chairman, Mr Osman Issaka, Vice Chairman, and Mr Lateef Issifu, Secretary.

Other Officers were Mr Bawa Kmal Deen, Organiser, Mr Abdul Mageed, Assistant Organiser, Miss Mariama Karim, Women's Organizer and Mohammed Awal Gibril, Youth Organizer.

In his inaugural address, the Eastern Regional Secretary of the Club, Alhaji Ibrahim Sumaila, urged the Zongo communities to ignore the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) negative propaganda that the NPP was anti-Moslems.

He said even though the NDC got about 80 percent of its vote from the Zongo communities, it neglected them in the provision of amenities. Alhaji Sumaila said while the NDC could not provide the community with any projects during its 8 years' rule the NPP, within its short administration, was able to build a block of six classrooms and a sanitary facility in the area.

He advised the people, especially the youth, to guard against pre-marital unprotected sex so as not to contract the deadly HIV/AIDS disease.

The Regional Secretary appealed to residents in Zongo communities to co-exist peacefully with their political opponents, reminding them that their political opponents should not be regarded as enemies. The Presiding Member of the Birim South District Assembly, Mr Robert Oscar Prah, advised members of the club to organize clean up exercise on weekly basis to help ensure a clean environment at all times.
