Alhaji Awesu targets Techiman NPP Chair

A popular businessman and former First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Techiman South Constituency, Alhaji Awesu Alhassan has declared his intention to vie for the chairmanship position of the party.

Alhaji Awesu disclosed this at a press briefing over the weekend. Having served the party in various positions, the time has come for me to lead the party in the constituency and do everything possible to grab power for the party in the Techiman South Constituency, according to Alhaji Awesu.

He said when given the nod, he would assemble a formidable team to move to every corner of the constituency to win more votes for the party.

Because of the cosmopolitan nature of the constituency and the fact that Techiman is the market center of the Brong Ahafo Region, more than 60 percent of the inhabitants of Techiman are strangers and the majority of them are from the north, he said.

He said he would do everything possible to bring the northerners on board so that the party could win the 2016 general elections.

Alhaji Awesu used the occasion to appeal to other contestants to avoid the use of foul and intemperate language because the 2016 elections could be won through teamwork.

He admonished delegates to ask contestants to outline their vision rather than demand money.

Touching on the Supreme Court ruling on the presidential election petition, which was filed by Nana Akufo Addo and the two others, Alhaji Awesu said the polling agents have a critical role to play in elections in this country, adding that they should be prepared for the onerous task ahead.
