Alhaji Tijani commends all for confidence reposed in him

Alhaji Mohammed Habibu Tijani, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Yendi has commended his constituents for the confidence they have reposed in him by voting massively for him.

He said:“I accept the responsibility with humility and will like to commend the people of Yendi and all for my victory.”

Alhaji Mohammed Habibu Tijani in the recent elections polled 22,961 representing 46.75 per cent of the vote and this was enough to ensure victory from other contestants including Mr Iddrisu Sulemana Ibin of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Yussif Nambili of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Mr Abdul-Rahaman M Mawong Gbande, Mr Abukari Mohammed Mahamoud, Mr Shani Mohammed Kamil all Independent Candidates.

Alhaji Tijani made the commendation through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Accra on Friday.

He said the victory was not for only supporters of the NPP but for all members of the constituency who voted in the constituency irrespective of their political affiliation, saying, “we are together as one people from one family, let us refrain from anything that will derail the peace and unity we have enjoyed over the years”.

Alhaji Tijani said chieftancy conflicts which was rampant in the area was derailing the development of the area and that irrespective of one chieftancy affiliation, “let us consider peace which is paramount in every society for development.”

“Whether you are from the Andani or Abudu side let us build Dagbon for the younger generation to take the mantle from us.”

Alhaji Tijani thanked opinion leaders, imams and pastors in the Constituency for their commitment in maintaining peace during the elections and appealed to them to continue to pray for peace, unity and development.

He assured them of his commitment to develop the area saying “I gladly accept the mandate and hope to live up to expectation. I thank all whose efforts have contributed to this unprecedented victory.”
