Amartey outlines vision for Kpong NPP

Aaron Amateye-Amartey, a Kpong-based businessman, who is contesting for the Secretaryship position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Lower Manya Constituency of the Eastern Region, has promised to rebrand the party to make it winsome in the 2016 general elections.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the NPP stalwart and firebrand explained that the NPP is supreme and as such internal bickering should not be countenanced in the party in the area.

He said he would rebrand the NPP in Zongo, Anlokodzi and Agric Research Station area.

He stressed the need for the party’s hierarchy in the constituency to identify loyal and committed supporters for effective campaigning to recapture power in 2016.

Mr Amateye-Amartey is considered by many as the likely successor to the incumbent, Nicholas Ababio.

According to reports, the party’s executives have lost confidence in the current secretary of the party in the constituency.

Mr Amateye-Amartey said he would wholeheartedly serve the party to attract more votes in the 2016 elections.

He said, “Leadership is about service, commitment and dedication and as a former polling station chairman with many years’ working experience in politics, I am sure and hopeful that the electorate would give me the mandate to be their secretary when we go to the polls on Sunday, December 15, 2013.

He promised to ensure financial discipline and work with all executives and grassroot members if given the nod.

He appealed to the electorate not to be swayed by money, saying snatching power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016 general election would not be an easy task.

Most traders and NPP grassroots supporters at Kpong have pledged their support to Aaron Amateye Amartey, who is popularly called Aforkpah, in his bid to become the secretary in the constituency to help wrest power from NDC in 2016.
