The Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale, has asserted that the NDC consistently secures victory in elections conducted under free and fair conditions.

He emphasised the party's belief that fairness in the electoral process ensures their continued success, while speaking in a recent interview on JoyNews.

"It (The election) was an interesting one. We knew we were going to win. We knew the Ghanaian people were going to give us the mandate, and we were confident of winning with a large margin. Any time there is a free and fair election, the NDC wins," he noted.

The Deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC also attributed the party's defeat in the 2000 Election to the unique political dynamics at that time.

"In 2000, we were transitioning from the 1992-2000 era, and many people still viewed Jerry Rawlings as a military figure. That perception influenced the outcome, the NDC's strength whenever vigilance and transparency prevailed," he noted.

He also revisited the 2016 Election, where he alleged that irregularities affected the outcome.

“In 2016, the Electoral Commission (EC) confirmed that its systems were hacked. Based on our research, we believe this interference impacted the results,” he said.

Malik Basintale also claimed that the NDC had to analyse and address these challenges, which shaped their approach in subsequent campaigns.

Turning to the 2020 Election, he reiterated the NDC's stance on electoral transparency and stressed the need for vigilance during campaigns.

"We always have two major tasks during campaigns, engaging the people with our policies and ensuring vigilance to protect the integrity of the electoral process," he noted.
