There is currently tension at the Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as Mubarik Masawudu a contender to Muntaka and his supporters have stormed party office for the candidate to file his nomination forms.
Over 20 fully armed policemen have been deployed to the office to maintain law and order over fears of possible reprisal attacks as Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka’s contender has vowed to retire him despite machinations by the party’s hierarchy to disqualify him
It would be recalled that some agitated youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Asawase in the Ashanti region, accused party executives of attempting to impose the incumbent MP on them.
The youth say they are not under any obligation to nominate Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, as the race for the party’s primaries heats up.
Pure Fm’s Osei Kwadwo reported that the NDC party office has been locked to prevent the Asawase MP’s contender Mubarik Masawudu from summitting his nomination forms.
Over 1000 supporters of Mubarik Masawudu, some NDC delegates and party supporters are currently at the party office singing and chanting awaiting when the office will be open for them to submit their forms.
MyNewsGh.com however gathered that there have been series of meetings between the Manhyia Divisional Police Commander ACP Kwaku Buah and some regional executives to help avoid violence at the party office.
