Ashanti NPP Nasara Club salutes Vice President

Kumasi, Sept. 27, GNA - The Ashanti Region NPP Nasara Club has congratulated Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the Vice President on his re-nomination as running mate of the party's flag bearer, President John Agyekum Kufuor for the 2004 polls.

The club said this showed recognition for the Vice President's hard work, dedication to duty and sublime disposition to self-discipline, selflessness and integrity.

These were contained in a press statement issued by the Club and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Ali Musah-Zingi in Kumasi at the weekend.

It said: "The confirmation of Alhaji Mahama by President Kufuor is a pointer to the fact that the first two citizens of Ghana are in excellent relationship and therefore one can say with pride that the two most important personalities are a perfect duo and have made a historic feat".

The club noted that, history had been made, as it was the first time that a sitting President of the country has chosen his vice to be his running mate for another term.

"This indeed spells a good omen for our budding democracy", it added.

The club also congratulated the NPP for its recent successful National Delegates congress in Kumasi and praised the minority political parties including the NDC, CPP and the PNC for showing physical presence and what it described as their "heart warming solidarity messages". It said there was no doubt that the country's democracy was growing and asked all Ghanaians to help ensure that the nation stayed on the path of democracy.
