The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has rejected a statement signed by the party's Regional Secretary, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, announcing the opening of nominations for appointments into the incoming John Dramani Mahama government.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, Nii Ashie Moore urged members of the party to ignore the regional secretary's announcement, which had been issued earlier.
He indicated that Tetteh Chaie’s statement was his own creation and had no backing from the party’s leadership, neither at the national nor regional level.
“I have been notified of a letter in circulation indicating submission of party nominees from constituencies for appointments. Let me state explicitly that I am not aware of such notification from the apex level of the party. Neither has the regional executive committee been consulted nor approved such directive.
“This is indeed a sole decision of the Regional Secretary without any recourse to laid down party structures. Kindly disregard the letter completely with the seriousness it deserves,” part of Ashie Moore’s statement reads.
He added, “The transition team of the President-Elect is assiduously working for a successful handover and focused on delivering the top 10 policies to be implemented within his first 120 days in office.”
The statement by the regional secretary, which was addressed to the party’s constituency chairmen in the Greater Accra Region, asked for nominees to fill positions in the John Dramani Mahama government, including ministerial positions.
It asked the chairmen to nominate persons from their constituencies to be appointed into the following areas:
1. Ministerial
2. Deputy Ministerial
3. Ambassadorial
4. C.E.Os
5. Directors
6. Council of State
7. Board Members
