Asokwa constituency NPP inaugurates youth wing

Kumasi, Aug. 4, GNA - Mr. Osei-Assibey Antwi, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister has advised Ghanaians not to vote the National Democratic Congress (NDC) back to power, as the party is anticipating since they have no new economic policies to improve upon the well-being of the people.

He indicated that the NDC had exhausted all its economi02c plans and visions for the nation in the past years; "How can a party under whose regime the nation's previous assets were sold, poverty increased and unemployment rate went high come back to convince Ghanaians to vote them into power again." Mr. Osei-Assibey was speaking at the inauguration of the Asokwa Constituency Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Kumasi on Saturday.

The Deputy Regional Minister recalled the hardships Ghanaians went through under the PNDC/NDC regime, citing the mass abuse of human rights, disrespect for rule of law and indiscipline. He said it behoved on the electorate to reject the NDC in the elections and vote massively for the NPP to continue with its good policies such as the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the capitation grant, expansion of road network and vibrant economic policies it had put in place to benefit the nation. Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, said Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was the only alternate presidential candidate who was well versed in the nation's political and socio-economic history among the lot, judging from his close association with the country's struggle for independence and post-independence activities. "We should therefore vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo for him to build on the solid foundation the NPP had laid in all sectors of the economy under President Kufuor, administration". Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, charged the youth wing to work hard in explaining the party's manifesto to the electorate to allow them to appreciate the NPP's vision for the nation so as to make informed decisions in the December elections. The executive of the youth wing has Mr. Francis Adomako as chairman, Mr Isaac Oppong, secretary, Mr Wahed Hage, organiser and Mavis Afrane, women's organiser.
