Assembly endorses West Akyem DCE

Asamankese (ER), July 22, GNA- The West Akyem District Assembly on Friday confirmed the President's nominee, Mr Kwabena Sintim-Aboagye, 48, a businessman who polled 59 out of the 60 votes cast, as the District Chief Executive.

Mr. Sintim-Aboagye in his acceptance speech thanked members of the assembly for confirming him and expressed the hope that he could count on their co-operation so that together they would uplift the image of the district. He said he had come, not to lord it over them but to serve the assembly and the people with humility, honesty and to best of his abilities.

Earlier, the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ms. Susana Mensah said the President, in his wisdom had nominated a capable person to represent him in the district and called on all assembly members to unite behind him for the progress of the district.

Later Mr Sintim-Aboagye was sworn into office by Mr. Kofi Akrowiah, Asamankese Circuit Court Judge. Among those present at the ceremony were Mr Fred Asante, a Member of the Council of State, Nana Addi Ankamah, Eastern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party and the Asamankesehene, Osabarima Kwaku Amoah III.
