Audio: Angry ET Mensah spars with journalist

E.T Mensah E.T Mensah

In what can be described as a fiery and spiky interview, incumbent Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Enoch Teye Mensah clashed with Citi FM’s Umaru Sanda Amadu, describing him as a "funny character".

The veteran politician who has been an MP for Ningo-Prampram for over 20 years got angry after Sanda sought to clarify in the course of the interview.

Below is a transcribed portion of the interview:

Sanda: 1996, we are in 2015, what has E.T Mensah done for Ningo Prampram?

ET Mensah: When ET Mensah set foot in Ningo Prampram, the electricity that you are sitting under came on, I have told you already that we have 187 towns in Ningo-Prampram, when I came here it was only in Prampram, and there was limited electricity. You couldn’t count 10 houses in Prampram with electricity, rural electrification was the order of the day…

Sanda cuts in: So you fed into it, it wasn’t as if it was exclusive to you, it was a national policy by the government then.

ET Mensah: You are a funny character when there is water to be fetched, and it is there to be fetched and you don’t go and fetch your portion, will you have it? Even when manner was falling people had to wake up early in the morning to go and collect their portion.

Sanda: But someone sent it to you… (Question interrupted)

ET Mensah: Listen to me (Shouting) somebody sends it anyway, if you want to be mischievous I would be as well…look look I don’t want to talk to you, you want to talk to me so listen to me.

Sanda: I’m not being mischievous honourable, we are having an interview.

ET Mensah: You are being mischievous, you are talking to someone who is more experienced to you, man.

Sanda: Yes, but I am asking you the questions.

ET Mensah: Yes but your questions must be decorous, your questions must be decorous.

Sanda: I am as a gentleman as I can and I am asking you the questions that I can.

ET Mensah: And I am telling you as a gentleman that you are not being decorous.
