The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) aspiring Member of Parliament for the Bawku Central constituency, Mahama Ayariga, says he is unfazed by the election of the Deputy Managing Director of Metro TV, Alhaji Haruna Alhassan as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate for the constituency.
Alhaji Alhassan was elected on Saturday to represent the NPP in the December polls following the incarceration of the MP for the area, Adamu Dramani Sakande over nationality issues.
In the 2008 parliamentary elections, Mr Sakande defeated Mr Ayariga, who was the incumbent in a close race.
But speaking to XYZ NEWS Mr Ayariga who is also the Deputy Education Minister said no member of the NPP can be a threat to his victory in the impending elections considering the kind of work he has done in the area.
“I don’t believe that there is anybody who can give me some stiff competition in Bawku Central considering the work I’ve done over the years to address issues concerns [and] welfares of the people,” he said.
He said he is confident of victory in the December polls no matter who his main opponent is.
