Contrary to public perception that the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) rigged the 2016 elections based on threats by the party’s outspoken lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong, he has stated that it was through the effort of Azorka Boys the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) failed to retain power.

Speaking on Oman FM’s political analysis programme “Boiling Point” last Thursday night, Mr Agyapong explained that he did not mean that his party engaged in any illegality win power following his earlier threats to spill the beans as to how the NPP won power

According to him on the programme monitored by MyNewsGh.com, his party had vital information of how NDC had created over thousand illegal polling stations and had planned to use the said polling stations to double their electoral fortunes.

He said what he did was to block the NDC party from carrying out their operation by thumb printing ballot papers and smuggling them to collation centres to be counted.

Akompreko, as he is affectionately called, said he contracted the leader of Azorka boys and promised him a Land Cruiser and other gifts just to influence him to control his boys on the day of the elections.

He said it was a result of what he did that tamed Azorka boys from intimidating and terrorising voters which would have paved the way for the NDC to have smuggle the thumb printed ballots from their illegally created polling stations to collation centres for counting.

Unfortunately, after the NPP won power, Mr Agyapong explained that he has not even been able to honour the pledges he made to the Azorka boys.

He assured that he has not forgotten about them and would honour the pledge he made to them.
