The Member of Parliament-elect of the Okaikwei Central Constituency, Baba Sadiq, could not hide his joy after he was declared the winner of the 2024 election in the constituency.

The collation of the 2024 parliamentary election for Okaikwei Central Constituency was taken to the Greater Accra Regional office of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) after confusion at the constituency collation centre.

After the declaration by the EC on Monday, December 9, 2024, Baba Sadiq said that he was surprised that his New Patriotic Party challenger, Dr. Patrick Boamah, who is also the incumbent MP for the area, was not accepting defeat.

According to him, some of his figures for some polling stations were deliberately changed for Dr. Boamah, which saw the incumbent MP announcing figures suggesting that he had retained his seat.

He said that at the EC collation centre, Dr. Boamah could not provide his pink sheets to show that he won the election because he knew he had done the wrong thing.

He said that he and his team provided the pink sheets from all the polling stations which showed their victory.

“We won the 31 polling stations that were in contention, we won them with huge margins. But the figures were swapped.

“Honourable Patrick Yaw Boamah knew this. He knew this within his heart. This is the reason he couldn’t present his pink sheet. We won the election, he needed to have given up and conceded defeat,” he said.
