Sunyani (B/A), Aug. 04, GNA - Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister on Friday cautioned the youth to be wary of politicians who would use them for violent acts to achieve their political ambitions during the 2008 electioneering campaign.
Mr. Baffour-Awuah interacting with the youth in Sunyani, urged them to be wary of traditional rulers who would use them to create confusion for their selfish interest.
He said there was the need for the youth to focus on positive attitudes, which would enable them achieve their objectives in life. The Regional Minister noted that the youth served as an important segment in the country's developmental agenda and stressed the need to involve them in policy making to move the nation forward.
He expressed concern about the alarming rate of armed robbery and drug peddling within the municipality and called on the youth to help security agencies with information to clamp down on the culprits. Mr. Baffour-Awuah urged the youth to see education as the bedrock of national development and encouraged them to further their studies to make them agents of change in society.
Mr. Alfred Ofori Annye, Sunyani Municipal branch secretary of the Federation of Youth Association of Ghana (FEDYAG) appealed to the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council to build a youth resource centre in the municipality to help unearth talents of the youth for development.
