Baffour Awuah to run

Space FM,Sunyani - A number of respondents in the Sunyani West Constituency have expressed great confidence in the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Ignatius baffour Awuah to deliver as their Member of Parliament.

They argue that ever since he burst on the political scene, "Baffour Awuah has never looked back and has been a man of vision and action".

The respondents added that Mr Baffour Awuah, stands very tall among the contenders judging from his performances as the former Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, Deputy Regional minister before assuming the seat as the regional minister.

"With the exit of Hon. Kwadwo Adjei Darko, the Sunyani West Constituency would need somebody who can tactifully continue from where the veteran legislator has left", said a 34 year old HND marketing student, Godfred Yeboah Asuamah.

Yeboah Asuamah added that " Baffour Awuah has proven over the years that he is the man to carry the constituency on his shoulders to higher heights".

Though he is yet to pick his nomination forms, many believe the astute politician has everything under his sleeves to sail through the primaries.

"We have heard so many people talk and talk about what they can do for their constituency but ask them what they have already done and they would run for cover".

"Baffour Awuah has performed creditably as a banker and politician and we believe the delegates would do the NPP a great honour by voting for him as the party's parliamentary candidate for the December polls", said Ama Boahemaa who though is not an NPP member added that " when it comes to developing the community, it does not matter which political party one belongs to.What is important is what can be done to develop the community and who can lead the agenda".

It is said that Hon. Baffour Awuah is probably is the most relaxed candidate and no one can fault him for that because he is the "Giant in the Race".

"Baffour Awuah is a royal whose time has come to be enthroned as the King, he should remain calm till the day of coronation", said Yaw Kyeremeh from Chiraa.

From all indications, Hon. Baffour Awuah would have a field day when the delegates meet to decide on the party's parliamentary candidate. The respondents gave him a 90 per cent chance of winning the primaries and subsequently the parliamentary election.

Other parliamentary aspirants in the constituency are, Hon. Evelyn Adarkwa Frema, Assemby Member for the Gubre Electoral Area and Proprietress of St Declan Schools, Professor Amoateng, a South African based Economist, Dr Adu Mensah, a Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Mr Pesewu of the Baduman Rural Bank, Sunayni.

Apart from Hon. Frema, who has made history as the first woman to contest for any parliamentary seat in Sunyani, nothing much has been heard from the other aspirants.

Some 107 delegates are bracing up to select the candidate who would retain the seat for the NPP. Chiraa - 17 delegates, Odumase - 37 delegates, Fiapre and Dumasua - 19 delgates and Nsoatre -34 delegates are the wards in the Sunyani West Contituency.

Meanwhile, Hon Baffour Awuah has officially launched his bid to become the NPP paliamentary candidate for the Sunyani West Contituency at Nsoatre.
