The National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi says Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a subject of international ridicule with his “continues spewing of lies and useless bloat throttling of Akufo-Addo’s achievements”, MyNewsGh.com reports.
Speaking on Metro TV Good Evening Ghana monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the Communications Officer said Ghana’s Vice President lied in his presentation in a town hall meeting in Kumasi on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, about being the first government to reduce electricity tariffs by 22% and expanded electricity to communities more than any government in Ghana’s fourth republic.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, on the government amongst many things have done less than 1% in electricity expansion whilst the NDC did 4% expansion annually so it can’t be said to be true that the NPP has outsmarted the NDC in rural electrification and general electricity expansion.
“You see all that I’m trying to tell you that the man’s claim that the NPP has drastically reduced electricity tariff is not correct. They paid IPP with ESLA which was bastardized by the NPP. They promised to scrap it, insulted President Mahama on it whilst in opposition but they came into office and increased it by 23%. Now this is what they are relying on.
The Vice President is just allergic to truth. He is discredited.” He told host Paul Adom Otchere.
Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia addressed the nation in a town hall meeting at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
In his speech, he indicated that the Akufo-Addo led administration has fulfilled and is fulfilling 322 (78%) of its 388 manifesto promises amidst fixing the mess of the NDC.
He cautioned Ghanaians against voting the NDC back into power highlighting that on exchange rate performance alone, the Mills-Mahama quadruple it from an inherited rate of 1.8 in 2008 to 4.2 after 8 years of which the NPP have gone from 4.2 to a considerable 5.35 in three years.
“If the cedi is to match what the NDC record is, we have to do a quadruple jump. Thankfully, the cedi is performing well reflecting in the fundamentals. All the worst performances happened under the NDC. They hold the record of the first worst, second-worst and third-worst but notwithstanding that, they want to challenge the NPP,” The Vice President noted.
