The former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo in the Upper East Region, Peter Ayamga Ayinbisa, has given hints about who is likely to be named as the running mate to the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 polls.

The Upper East Regional Communications Director of the party indicated that the person is not a novice in politics, as has been speculated in political circles.

He disclosed on Bolgatanga-based Dreamz FM that the person is already busily campaigning to consolidate the gains of the party for the 2024 polls and will soon be unveiled.

"I can assure you that whoever will be named is already out there campaigning for the party. He is not going to be a completely new person. The person is likely going to be somebody within the frontiers of the party, someone who's been working tirelessly and whose contributions are very significant in our party today," he stated.

"So it's not going to be a new person like the way Bawumia came. I suspect that the person the candidate is going to name is going to be a very popular person," he hinted.

Barring any unforeseen changes, Dr. Bawumia is expected to submit his nominee to become the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP for the 2024 election to the party's National Council.

As part of the tour of the Ashanti Region, final consultations and briefings about his choice will be laid before key opinion leaders and influencers of the region, including chiefs, key queen mothers, and party elders, in a series of closed-door meetings arranged for the NPP flagbearer, this portal was informed.

Sources reveal to this portal that the Energy Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is highly tipped for the position.
