Bolgatanga, Oct 31, GNA - The Bolgatanga Central Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the weekend elected a 10-member Executive to steer the affairs of the party for another four years.
Six out of the 10 executive were retained unopposed. They are the incumbent constituency chairman and his vice, Mr. Epsona Ayamga and Alhaji Gariba Awudu, the Vice Secretary, Mr David Apeah, and the Propaganda Sectary and his Assistant Mr. Hudu Yahaya and Kasimu Adamu. Mr Nsobila Akagre also retained his position as the deputy secretary. Mr. Philip Aboore got the Secretary position by polling 162 votes to beat his contestant Mr Billy Adakurah with 71. The Treasurer position went to Mr Adamu Aganda with 139 votes against Mr Peter Ayambire, who polled 80.
On the positions of Secretary and Deputy Treasurer, Mr. Roland Atingabono and Paul Azuure stepped down for Mr. Roland Ayoo and Nsobila Akaki.
The Chairman-elect, Mr Ayamga, on behalf of the newly elected executive thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and promised to work assiduously for the party to recapture power in the 2008 election.
Mr. Ayamga mentioned the lack of enough logistics and financial support as some of the major challenges facing the party and impressed upon party faithful and sympathisers to contribute in diverse ways in supporting the party in its activities for political victory in 2008. He stated that for the NDC to win convincingly in the 2008 election there was the need to train and use party literate agents who would not only be vigilant at polling stations but also be aware of all manners of election tricks and could stand all forms intimidations. He also stated that there was the need for the NDC to strategise, package information and distribute it in such a way that it would attract the electorate to vote for the party.
The National Vice Chairperson of NDC, Mrs Hilda Salifu, called on all party supporters and sympathisers to vote the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government out of power and vote the NDC back to redeem Ghanaians from the economic hardships they were facing " People cannot pay their children's school fees, electricity and water bills", she stated. The Bolgatanga Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Kasim Kakaa conducted the election.
