Even before the Convention People’s Party (CPP) could open nomination for their presidential slot, a cross section of supporters of the party in the Brong Ahafo Region have vowed to throw their weight behind Samia Nkrumah if nomination is opened.

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE on the issue, a communication member of the CPP in Brong Ahafo Region, Isaac Djan, said information available to him indicates that Madam Nkrumah is lacing her boots to contest the flagbearership primaries if nomination is opened.

According to Mr Djan, it has been the prayer of a cross section of the CPP members in the region “for Madam Nkrumah to run as a presidential candidate of the CPP in the 2016 general election.”

He said apart from Samia Nkrumah being charismatic and well-educated, she is incorruptible and much focused.

The CPP communication member mentioned that having been a parliamentarian before, Madam Nkrumah would make a good president for Ghana. In his view, if the CPP gives her the nod, “she will surely be the first lady to rule Ghana.” Mr Djan pointed out that the time has come for Ghanaians to give a woman the chance to rule the country “so that we could compare and contrast the difference between men and women as far as the management of the economy is concerned.” In a related issue, the Techiman North Constituency executive members of the CPP have met to throw their weight behind Madam Samia Nkrumah any time nomination is opened.
