National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Youth Organiser Sidi Abubakar has revealed that the Professor Kwesi Botchwey committee report will be released this week.
According to him, the committee tasked to investigate the causes of the NDC’s defeat in last year’s presidential and parliamentary elections had completed its work and the findings will be announced this week.
For this reason, he has appealed to all members of the NDC to exercise restraint as the committee addresses all their grievances and determines the way forward.
His comments follow a decision by a pro-NDC group, Powerful Youth of the NDC, to summon members of the party who they believe squandered cash and other logistics meant for campaign activities to the Antoa deity and other deities in Cote d’Ivoire today, Monday May 29.
Seth Okyere, leader of the group, told Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM that the leadership of the group was on its way to Cote d’Ivoire to seek justice from deities there regarding those it suspects to have stolen items and cash meant for the campaign, a situation they claim largely contributed to the NDC’s defeat to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
But also speaking on the same programme, Mr Abubakar said: “The party has its own structures to deal with misunderstandings and issues in the party and so let us use these structures. I will plead with the leadership of Powerful Youth of NDC to be patient with us because their actions are not helping matters.
“They should churn their energies towards the rebuilding of the NDC. We want unity in the party at this stage, that is why a committee was formed to investigate the causes of our defeat. The report of the committee will come out this week. I am very sure about that and so we should all be patient.”
