Both NPP and NDC optimistic of winning the Hohoe-North seat

Hohoe, Dec. 6, GNA - Mr Prince Jacob Hayibor, incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe-North is optimistic of raising his votes from 34,600 in 2004 to 42,000 in Sunday December 7's parliamentary elections.

But his New Patriotic Party (NPP) opponent Mr John Peter Amewu, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive who polled 9,068 votes in the last elections said he would wrestle the seat from Mr Hayibor this time. The two frontline contenders for the seat made their predictions at separate rallies on Friday, where they each extolled the achievements of their respective governments and conditions in the country as reasons for their optimism.

Both candidates however appealed to the electorate in the constituency to restrain themselves and exercise their franchise in an orderly manner.

Other candidates for the seat were Mr Paul Robert Addo, Convention People's Party (CPP), Mr Benedictus Mordzinu, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), and Mr Victor Nyaxo, People's National Convention (PNC), all of whom are new in the race for the seat.
