Some traders at the Kumasi Central Market, who are supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have expressed their displeasure at the party’s failure to provide enough t-shirts for them during the outdooring of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, as the running mate in the Ashanti Region.
According to some of the traders, the limited number of t-shirts has infuriated some traders, who are threatening not to vote in the pending general elections.
In a video shared by EDHUB on X and sighted by GhanaWeb, the traders called on NAPO and the leadership of the NPP to make more t-shirts available to the market leaders to be given to the aggrieved ones.
“The last time we went to the rally, most of the market women did not get any t-shirts, and it has become a problem for some people. Some people have even threatened not to vote due to that," one of the market women said.
“So I am pleading with NAPO and other NPP leaders to bring more t-shirts to me, Ohemaa Mercy, so that I can share them with the market women. NAPO, we really love you, so we expect more t-shirts,” she stated in Twi.
Another trader, Obaa Yaa, also added her voice to the call, saying, “NAPO, please make the t-shirts available to Mama China, and we will get them. If they pass elsewhere, we may not get them, so listen to us.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s outdooring ceremony took place at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on July 9, 2024.
Numerous NPP members were present at the event, making it a memorable one.
