Buduburam Camp NDC cautions Executives over primary

The Buduburam Camp branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned the Constituency, Regional and National Executives of the Party to stop any attempt to disqualify Mr Desmond De-Graft Kwesi Paitoo, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for Gomoa East.

According to the branch members, any move to disqualify Mr Paitoo would not bring peace and stability into the party, before, during and after the parliamentary primary.

Mr Shardrack Baidoo, branch secretary of the party who gave the warning when he addressed members the Press at Buduburam, said members of the Buduburam Camp would not hesitate to defect, if Mr Desmond Paitoo was not allowed to contest.

He said members of the branch acknowledged the statement signed by Mr Koku Anhidoho, Deputy General Secretary of NDC, Mr Desmond Patioo was disqualified but it was due to an administrative error.

According to Mr Baidoo, the members had banked their hopes on the statement issued by the National Executives that no aspirant from Gomoa East was disqualified after the vetting in Cape Coast.

He said Mr Paitoo was the only candidate who had the capacity and tenacity of purpose to unite the party to win the parliamentary seat in 2016.

The branch secretary said Mr Paitoo had a strong vision and mission for the party in the Gomoa East and the Central Region as a whole.

He said there were comprehensive plans put in place for the youth in the party by Mr Desmond Paitoo, and there was therefore the need to allow him to contest the primary.

Mr Baidoo hinted that the Gomoa Buduburam Camp branch of NDC has the largest membership in the Gomoa East, and nothing should be done to disturb the peace in the area.

He said there was the need for the NDC to win convincingly in the 2016 elections, and asked the Constituency, Regional and National Executives to help stimulate the members to avoid any disaster.

Mr Baidoo advised the constituency executives to stop issuing statements to the media, to avoid creating confusion and misunderstanding among members.

He said the NDC needed a united front to defeat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in next year's elections.

Mr Baidoo called on the National Executive Committee (NEC) not to allow any member from the Constituency or the Regional to coerce them to disqualify any contestant to ensure peace and stability.
