Bolgatanga, Jan. 19, GNA - The Builsa North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region has congratulated Mrs. Agnes Asangalisah Chigabatia for her successful election into office as the new Upper East Regional Chairperson of the Party.
Mrs Chigabatia stood with the former District Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana East, Mr Emmanuel Achegeweh and Mr Thomas Alonsi, former District Chief Executive for Builsa North constituency and won. In an interview with the Constituency Chairman, Mr David Amoabil Afoko, told the Ghana News Agency that Mrs Chigabatia's victory was a sign of victory for the NPP in the 2012 elections and called on members to unite and rally behind her in her new office.
Mr Afoko noted that in every competition there was a winner and if this was her time, there was the need for those who lost to put their differences behind them and join Mrs Chigabatia to bring peace and unity to the Party.
Mrs Chigabatia said she was instituting measures to empower the youth and women in the region and reiterated her intentions to form a Patriotic Women's Front (PWF) which would engage women in various ways such as shea butter trading and tomato farming among others. Mrs Chigabatia noted that the youth were the only hope of the country's future and that her attention would be on the youth by formulating policies that would help them develop positive live styles.
