CPP elects Donkor as candidate for Ayensuano

Coaltar (E/R), Sept. 18, GNA - The Ayensuano Constituency of the CPP has elected Mr S A Donkor, an ex-Prison Officer, as its candidate for the December 2004 elections.

Mr Donkor obtained 49 votes to beat his opponent, Mr Charles C. Lokko who had 15, at a primary held at Coaltar on Thursday. The Eastern Regional Secretary of the CPP, Mr Kwabena Apea, expressed his delight that the elections went on peacefully instead of the rancour and clashes that had characterised the primaries of some political parties.

He said the incident-free primary was a "sign of good things to come to the country when the CPP is voted into power on December 7".

Mr Apea gave the assurance that all abandoned factories established by the CPP government in the First Republic would be reactivated to provide employment to the teeming unemployed youth when the party was voted into power.

This is "The surest means of curbing the spate of armed robberies in the country," he said.

Meanwhile, the Afram Plains South Constituency of the CPP has elected Mr John Adongo as its candidate for elections through popular acclamation.

Speaking at the primary at Tease, the Constituency Chairman, Mr Mustapha Kesse, urged the electorate to vote massively for the CPP since it was the "only party, which can make Ghanaians live in dignity since the previous achievements of the CPP are there for everyone to see."
