Kumasi, Nov. 04, GNA - Nana Owusu Annor Panin III, Chief of Kyirapatre, has appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to split the New Atonsu Electoral Area in the Kumasi Metropolis to help hasten the pace of development.
The area is made up of 13 communities including Kyirapatre, Dompoase, Gyinyasi, Kyirapatre Estate, Ramseyer, Kyirapatre New Site, Aprabo, Nahinso, S-Line, Kuwait, Oti, Atonsu and Agogo. Nana Owusu-Annor told the Ghana News Agency that given its vastness, there was little to show for the metropolitan assembly's budgetary allocations over the years.
He said carving out another electoral area would enable the people to enjoy a fair share of socio-economic development. Additionally, this would help the assembly member to operate more effectively.
Nana Owusu-Annor said if the Ahinsan Electoral Area, that had relatively smaller land size, space and population was represented by two assembly members, there should not be any difficulty doing the same for Atonsu.
The Chief said he was confident that a split of the electoral area would help them to keep pace with the progress being made by the other electoral areas. 04. Nov. 09
