Winneba (C/R), Nov. 21, GNA - The chairman of the Winneba Electoral Security Taskforce, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Jordan Quaye has hinted that 19 out of the 42 polling stations in the Winneba municipality have been marked as 'Flash Points' He mentioned some of the points to include the Traditional Council office, Nana Gyaben Compound, Old Flamingo, Town Hall and Old Senya Station, all in the Winneba Township.
Mr Quaye who is also the Effutu Municipal Police Commander, expressed concern about the failure of some executives of political parties in Winneba to attend meetings to discus matters that would ensure a smooth election in the Constituency. He was addressing a meeting held in his office, attended by only the New Patriot Party and the National Democratic Congress representatives.
ASP Quaye appealed to the party executives to advise "known notorious people in the society against making trouble during the election because the police will not relent on their efforts to maintain law and order in the municipality". ASP Quaye however gave the assurance that police officers in his domain have been adequately resourced and sensitized to ensure a peaceful election.
According to the Police commander stringent measures have been put in place to deal with any irregularities. He criticised the political parties for littered the streets after their campaigns and keep fit activities, leaving heaps of sachets for zoom lion to clean.
Messrs Kofi Taylor, NPP Effutu constituency chairman, and Mr Kojo Asmah Bondzie NDC constituency chairman for Effutu who attended the meeting promised to cooperate with members of the taskforce to ensure a peaceful election.
