Some Concerned National Democratic Congress Members of Parliament have condemned the alleged endorsement of former President John Dramani Mahama as the Party’s Presidential candidate for the 2020 polls.

They have therefore described that action by some members who allegedly passed the paper round for signatures as fakery adding, “… fakery is not sustainable.”

In a statement signed by Mr Joseph Naabu, Member of Parliament for Yunyoo constituency in the Northern Region and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said it was unfortunate for a party that was fighting to wrestle power from their opponents could engage in that trickery.

He said the Professor Kwesi Botchwey report stated unequivocally that there was the need for the party to drill down to the recommended action plans contained in the report, in order to save it.

“Peddling false news and driving unhealthy wedges within the ranks of NDC Parliamentarians is certainly not one of the recommendations on the rebuilding process.”

The statement said since their formation, their major task was to keep the NPP administration in check to ensure that they lived up to their promises, mend fences and heal the wounded spirits of Party members.

“It is in view of the above, that many of us, the NDC Minority MPs in Parliament were given a rude jolt when the above headline first appeared in a tabloid and made the usual rounds on social media.

“A few of us have rightly and justifiably debunked this obviously engineered mass endorsement of President John Mahama as an unconfirmed flagbearer hopeful. Many more of the so-called group of “94 or more” are boiling with anger in silence.”

“Some of us are privy to happenings in the camps of some flagbearer hopefuls. Prophesying Pastors and Spiritualists have been consulted. Tracking surveys have been conducted. Intelligence with poor prognoses have been gathered. Whatever, the outcomes of these schemes, we are beseeching the henchmen of our contending leaders to keep cool heads.

The statement said anything that did not contribute to the compelling need to unify the party now must be rightly ignored with the impunity it deserved

“Such as gambling with the feelings and emotions of our MPs, knowing very well they would keep mute for the greater good of the Party.

“But when putting the cart before the horse is a glaring eyesore, it will be a disservice to our party for us to keep mute. That is the only reason some of us are putting this message out as an early warning signal in order to forestall any similar machinations in the near future.’ The statement concluded.
