Dangme East DCE sworn-in

Accra, March 30, GNA - Shiekh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister on Thursday asked the new District Chief Executive of Dangme East to fast track the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the District to enable all the people to enjoy the benefit. Shiekh Quaye told the DCE, Mr Israel Narh Baako that available records indicated that the registration for the scheme in that District was on the low side.

"Let us ensure that as many people as possible continue to register to enable our people to enjoy the full benefits of the NHIS", he said. In a speech read for the Minister by his Deputy Ms Gloria Akuffo at the swearing-in ceremony of the DCE, Sheikh Quaye indicated that democracy thrived on consultation so the DCE should partner with seasoned public servants in the area to achieve the objective of bringing development to the place.

"You must also consult the chiefs and people at the grassroots level. This is the only way that you can practise democracy at the district level", he said.

He also advised Mr Baako to avoid arrogance and rather ensure that his doors were opened to the people who put him in office. The DCE after swearing the oaths of allegiance and secrecy said he had accepted the position as a responsibility rather than a privilege and promised to defend virtues of the plans, policies and programmes of the government for the overall development of the District and the nation.

He thanked President John Agyekum Kufuor and the people of Ada for the confidence reposed in him adding that, the Chiefs and people of Ada should live above all odds and work hard towards the development of the District, which is endowed with potential natural resources, especially the "white gold" (salt).
