The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a change in the vote-counting process for the upcoming December 7 general elections.

In a departure from previous practice, presidential ballots will now be counted before parliamentary ballots at all polling stations nationwide.

Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, Head of the EC's Training Department, made this announcement in response to a question posed by the General Secretary of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Citizen Ato Dadzie during a recent high-level meeting at the Ghana Police Service Command Centre.

The meeting, which included representatives from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP), and other political parties, was held in collaboration with senior security officials to discuss measures for a secure, transparent, and peaceful election.

Dr. Quaicoe explained that the new directive is intended to streamline the vote-counting process and ensure orderliness at polling stations across the country.
