Disability is not a bar to progress – Isaac Osei

Hon. Isaac Osei a Member of the NPP National Campaign Team has addressed a meeting of some 300 members of the National Association of Physically Challenged in Kumasi last Saturday.
He said “the NPP believes that every citizen of the country no matter his or her physical condition can play a useful role in promoting the economic well being of the country”.
“The NPP in its manifesto has indicated that ‘people with disability matter’ because of our fundamental believe that disability cannot be equated to inability”, He added.
Hon. Osei cited the example of the Subin communication officer ‘Dr.’ Kwesi Kyei who has done extremely well in communicating and espousing the ideals of the NPP to hundreds and thousands of people across the nation by the medium of radio.
He said the NPP intends to build a society of opportunities and aspirations and that such a society will be incomplete if government fails to address the urgent needs of the disabled and physically challenged, and that is why the NPP has pledged in its manifesto to fast track the implementation of the Disability 2006 Act 715.
The NPP also believes that in the integration of persons who are physically challenged into their communities by developing and building community based program.
Hon. Osei urged all present to be mindful of the provisions of the 1992 constitution which emphasize the rights of persons with disability and promised to donate copies of the constitution to members of the Association to familiarize themselves with the provisions of the constitution.
In an address, Mr. Francis Amedor who is the Ashanti Regional President of the Association thanked Hon. Osei for his kind gesture and support in ensuring that they are not left out in the developmental agenda of the nation.
Hon. Isaac Osei took time to field questions from members of the Association.
