Suhum (E/R), Aug 31, GNA - Mr Anthony Kwaku Chipro, Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District Director of National Commission for Civic Education, has called on the youth to make wise decisions during the electioneering process and not be misused by others for their selfish interests.
He said the youth would be the greatest losers should they allow politicians to use them.
Mr. Chipro gave the advice at the opening of the 1st Diocesan conference of the Koforidua Diocese of Anglican Young Peoples Association at Suhum on Friday.
He said voting provided the platform for the citizenry to participate in democratic governance of their country and urged the communities to exercise their franchise in December. He said the role of political parties was to define and clarify issues to enable the electorate to make their choice. Mr Chipro asked Ghanaians to be tolerant and respect others' views. Reverend Father Obeng Fosu, in-charge of the Suhum Anglican Church, expressed confidence that the forthcoming general election would be peaceful and called on all religious organizations to pray for its success. He appealed to the youth to observe the electoral laws and conduct themselves before during and after the period.
