Accra, Oct. 30, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday called on its activists to remain steadfast and not to feel intimidated or inferior by the government's unproven allegations and 'half- truths.'
Dr Josiah Aryeh, NDC General Secretary, told the GNA in an interview that the "NDC's chances in the December 7 elections are higher than before because of its track record and ability to brave the storm. "The indications are good, we're going to genuinely defeat the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). We'll win hands down."
He urged the Party's activists to go all out and explain policy objectives in the NDC's manifesto to the people without fear of threat or intimidation from the government.
Dr Aryeh made reference to a series of press conferences held recently by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and said those, who addressed them presented half-truths as a ploy to question his personal integrity and discredit the NDC.
"The NDC is not deterred by those attacks and we will respond to the allegations at the right time. They are diversionary tactics,'' he said, and told the supporters to work hard to meet the challenges towards a resounding victory.
He said four years in governance had exposed the NPP's corrupt practices as "the so-called angels of yester-years are now found to be involved in massive corruption".
Dr Aryeh accused the NPP of taking delight in frivolous spending and making no effort to curtail government expenditure. He called for peace, unity and stability during the elections and said it should be the responsibility of every Ghanaian to guard against violence.
"There is a very thin line between peace and violence and we must not let things degenerate," he added, citing recent developments in neighbouring Cote d'Ivoire as an unfortunate evil that must not be allowed here.
