The Dormaa Traditional Council has fined three Dormaa Central Constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for going contrary to the customary laws of the Council.

They are to provide 11 sheep, one carton of Heineken Aromatic Schnapps and a cash of GHC2,000.00 within a fortnight.

The three are Messrs Kwame Asamoah, the Co-ordinator, Seth Asare, the Organiser, and William Nyarko, the Communication Officer.

They are accused of invoking curses against opposing political party activists and the chiefs and people of Alikoassue, Bawurekofikrom, Brebrekrom, and Sikwaakrom, all border towns within the Dormaa Central Municipality.

Messrs Asamoah, Asare and Nyarko pronounced the curse to deter anyone with the intention to mobilise foreign nationals across the border towns to register them during the limited voters’ registration exercise.

A female linguist, Odeneho Akosua Fima Dwabeng II, the Paramount Queenmother of the Dormaa Traditional Area, heard the curse pronouncement on Gifts FM.

Consequently, Odeneho Dwabeng, on behalf of the Traditional Council, summoned the constituency executives of the NPP, including the three, and reprimanded them for doing what was abominable in the traditional area.

She also invited the managements of the three local FM radio stations; Gifts FM, Dormaa FM and Voice FM to question them for broadcasting news about the curse and cautioned them not to allow themselves to be used to foment trouble by the political parties.

Barimah Buabasa Oppong Yaw Ababio, the Gyaasehene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, pleaded for clemency on behalf of the three executives and rendered an apology to the paramount queen mother and the entire members of the Traditional Council with a promise that they would be of good behaviour.
