A member of the communication team for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Charles Owusu, has stated that the admission by Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan that over-voting as well as double-voting occurred in the 2012 election solidifies allegations by the petitioners that there were irregularities and malpractices in last year’s general poll.
According to him, Dr. Afari-Gyan, in his evidence-in-chief, lied to the Supreme Court about where the special votings are recorded; but through the cross-examination of the petitioners’ lawyer, the truth has come out that the special voting was done on collation form and not on the pink sheet as the chief returning officer earlier told the court.
Speaking on Okay fm, he slated Dr. Afari-Gyan who has garnered years experience in electoral matters for contradicting himself.
To him, the EC boss has been exposed and discredited for lying in court. He cynically expressed concern that despite the impressive academic background of the EC boss, and his long standing experience in elections in Ghana and other African countries, his integrity has been dragged in the mud as the international community watch the court proceedings.
