Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otukonor, has expressed its dissatisfaction about Electoral Commission (EC) Chair, Jean Mensa, decision to compile a new voter’s register ahead of the 2020 election.

”It must, however, be stated that Madam Jean Mensa has not been in the good books of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC),’’ Peter Boamah Otukonor told Reynolds Agyemang on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7

“Prior to election 2016, the NDC, which was then the ruling government, boycotted the IEA’s presidential debate, which meant that President John Dramani Mahama, who was the NDC’s candidate, did not participate in the national debate.’’

“Ghana is a peace-loving nation and we have been acclaimed internationally for that. The EC should and must know that it is treading on dangerous grounds and that the earlier it steers clear of danger to avoid bloodshed, the better it will be for Ghana.”

“EC, listen to the voices of reason and drop that infamous decision of compiling a new electoral roll. The current register is by all standards credible as you yourself has admitted,”

According to Otukonor, “Ghana cannot afford the price of a partial and incompetent Electoral Commission, and the NDC will continue to do everything possible to safeguard the independence and transparency of our state institutions.”
